Obviously acronyms are used on Twitter due to the character limit. TBH (To Be Honest), it probably comes down to speed and acronyms help us communicate faster. It’s possible that your post, comment or reply could be less relevant if you don’t move fast on Social Media. Also, some people feel that shorter attention spans make speed essential if you want to stay engaged. So moving slow means missed opportunities. This could be opportunities to help customers, promote a product or grow your community. Acronyms are more accepted on Social Media because generally we aren’t expected to be 100% grammatically correct. There seems to be a certain liberty to communicate faster with shortcuts like acronyms and emojis.
